Mission of Life


CAREER SEMINAR

 

My mission is to spread the awareness about various careers among the students of 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th classes especially  in rural Punjabi medium schools surrounding my city Ludhiana (India) as children from poor families in villages do not have access to various careers available to them. Neither they are aware. My daughter did MBA at 25 whereas I did at 55 years. By making these children aware about careers, I am asking them to save their 30 best years of their lives.

 

 

Yesterday, on 12th November, 2013 (Tuesday), I delivered a seminar at Govt. Sr.Secondary School at Threekay village in District Ludhiana.

 

The honorable principal who is PES and female cooperated and asked the staff to summon all the students of 9th, 10th, 11th and 12 th class. Students (Girls and boys) numbered about 250. Ms. Harpreept Kaur, M.A (Eco.), B.Ed and who had cleared UGC in first attempt and is working in the school as Career Counsellor supported me to deliver the seminar.

 

All the students were gathered in an open ground. The school has two buildings. Delivering a career seminar in a village to the students sitting in open ground was really a new experience. Students were disciplined and did not make much noise.

 

Students were asked about the careers they wanted to go for after their 10th or 12th :

Various careers referred to by the students were:

  1. Doctor                           2.Teacher                           3.Lawyer

  1. Army                             5.Navy                               6.Air Force

  1. Anchor                           8.Merchant Navy              9.Police

I gave them more information about these careers.

    For becoming

1.      Doctor: the student must sit for PMT or any other test having got information about the test after +2 . MBBS, MD, MS and many other specializations were detailed to them.

2.      Teaching: ETT, JBT, B.Ed, M.Ed, D.Ed, M.A(Education)

3.      Lawyer: CLAT is the entrance test. LLB, LLM, LLD are further degrees for career as lawyer.

4.      Army, Navy and Air Force Officers:  NDA, IMA and for others direct recruitment is conducted.

5.      Anchor: Conducts the events on TV program, stage programs etc.

6.      Merchant Navy: Deck Side(B.S Nautical Sciences) and Engine Side(Marine Science) Min. Qualification: +2 PCM  After Diploma/Degree in Engineering the student can go for Graduate Mechanical Engineering (GME)

7.      Police: For lower cadre : Direct recruitment For Officers: Civil Services i.e. I.P.S.

Many students loved to talk personally and enquired about the career of their choice. I gave them my number so that they may contact in future. Help of Ms. Harpreet Kaur is highly appreciated. Other teachers too were very cooperative. The organized principal managed the school very well. I appreciate.

The very easy formula for success, I have found is KASH K = Knowledge A=Attitude S= Skill H= Habit K stands for knowledge that a person gains from school, college, universities or any other training institute.  Education empowers and transforms the person to be better for self and for the world. A= Attitude  Despite best education if a person does not have good attitude i.e. an intent to believe that the education I have is not good or is faulty and I should not work to improve myself - does not lead person to be successful in life. S = Skill    I view skill as that part of knowledge which is used for the purpose of turning stones into statues. Best education when not applied properly cannot give the desired results to the person. H= Habit   Last but not the least is habit.
