Speaker can be one or a group of persons as sometime more than 1 singer sings.  The speaker is referred to as I and We in English. 2. Listener : Listener is the 2nd person. Speaker speaks when he has a listener. Lister can be one person or more than one person. For singular or plural, these days "You" is used. Earlier for a single person : Thou was used. 3. The person or things talked about are called 3rd person. For example He, She, It, Boy, Girl, Cow etc. English grammar has rules for these 3 persons. Throughout the course, you will listen your mentor use the words 1st person singular, 1st person plural, 2nd person  (no singular or plural as for both "you" will be used.
